IMCHK is set up as a professional organisation and qualifying body for practising management consultants. Principally only experienced management consultants practicing can join. We however also offer various categories of membership to people who are not practising but are interested in the profession or students who aspire to join the profession in the future. Membership categories are as follows:

To meet the experience requirements, you would have been a practising consultant with a management consultancy practice or an independent consultant. Alternatively, you would have been playing the role of an internal consultant, on a full time or part time basis, on internal projects to improve efficiency and bring about changes in your organisation.

Experience requirement is generally counted by the total period of the actual (either internal or external) consulting practices, i.e. at least three effective years of practice for Full Members.

The Institute also expects Full Members to be able to demonstrate competency in every dimensions of their consultancy throughout their three years+ consulting activities (refer to Body of Knowledge).
